# Welcome to KehillaHQ

> What KehillaHQ does, who it is for, and where to start.

KehillaHQ is a membership and administration system for small Jewish communities. It keeps your household and member records, your yahrzeit observances and reminder emails, and your dues and contributions in one place.

It is built for congregations of roughly 50 to 250 households, and for the people who actually run them: an office administrator, a part-time bookkeeper, a rabbi, a board member, a volunteer who comes in on Tuesdays.

## The four things KehillaHQ does

**Members and households.** Your directory. Households are the main unit, and members belong to them. This matches how a congregation actually thinks: you bill a household, you greet a person.

**Yahrzeits.** Every observance you track, on the Hebrew or secular calendar, with reminder emails that go out automatically before the date.

**Dues and finances.** What each household has committed for the year, what has come in, and what is still outstanding. Plus donations, funds, and imported payment records.

**Settings.** One place where the congregation's defaults live, so a setting is defined once and used everywhere.

## A note on the examples

Every example in this help center uses an invented congregation called **Beth Shalom**, with invented families. Nothing here comes from a real community's records.
