# Signing in

> How to reach your congregation's account, and what to do when you cannot get in.

## Your congregation's address

Each congregation has its own web address, built from a short name chosen when the account was created. Beth Shalom would sign in at:

```
beth-shalom.kehillahq.com
```

Bookmark it. If you are not sure what yours is, check the invitation email that brought you here, or ask whoever set up your account.

## Signing in for the first time

You do not create your own account. Someone at your congregation invites you, and the invitation arrives by email.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the invitation email">
    It comes from KehillaHQ and contains a single link. The link is good for one use.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set your password">
    You choose it yourself. Nobody at your congregation, and nobody at KehillaHQ, can see it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in">
    You land on the Dashboard.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Invitation links expire. If yours has stopped working, ask an administrator at your congregation to send a fresh one. They can do that from the Users page.
</Note>

## Forgot your password

On the sign-in page, choose **Forgot password**. Enter the email address you were invited with, and a reset link arrives in your inbox.

If nothing arrives after a few minutes:

* Check your spam or junk folder.
* Make sure you used the same address the invitation went to. A reset only works for an address that already has an account.
* Ask an administrator to confirm which address your account uses.

## Staying signed in

A session lasts about a week, then you sign in again. Signing out, or changing your password, ends it sooner.

## When sign-in keeps failing

Repeated failed attempts on the same account will slow down further tries for a while. This protects your congregation's records from someone guessing passwords. Wait a few minutes and try again, or reset your password if you are genuinely stuck.

If several people at your congregation are locked out at once, and you all share an office network, contact [support@kehillahq.com](mailto:support@kehillahq.com) and say so. That detail helps us sort it out quickly.
